Police respond to a double shooting on east Douglas

Updated: Thursday, December 19 2013, 06:05 PM CST

WICHITA, Kansas - Wichita police responded to a double shooting Thursday afternoon.

It happened in the 2600 block of East Douglas just after 2 p.m. at The Flying Pig Boutique.

One man in his 30's suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Another man in his 40's suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

According to witnesses, a man with a shotgun entered the store asking for a woman.

The employees told the man that the person wasn't there. They ran out the back.

Witnesses say that is when the suspect shot another man inside the store.

He was able to escape.

"Witnesses heard another gunshot. The suspect used the shotgun to shoot himself," said Captain Hassan Ramzah, Wichita Police Department.

Police are looking into whether the shooting was a domestic violence case.

"We believe that this was a situation where a current boyfriend and an ex-boyfriend had a confrontation," added Ramzah.

They are currently interviewing witnesses downtown.

Both men were transported to Wesley Hospital in critical condition.
