Recycle your Christmas tree

Updated: Monday, December 30 2013, 08:22 AM CST

WICHITA, Kansas - Now that Christmas is over, you can convert your tree to mulch.

From now, until January 13th, there are 21 locations you can drop your Christmas tree off.

Last year, the county recycled more than 5,400 trees.

The trees are turned into mulch and given out free to the public.

"This is an opportunity for folks who have purchased a live tree to actually come out to one of these sites, drop it off and that way it doesn't go into the landfill," said Scott Bowen, Sedgwick County.
