Controlled rolling blackouts affecting many Kansans

The demand for electricity during these extreme temperatures is so high, Evergy began rolling blackouts, or power interruptions, on Monday for about 30-minutes to one hour for 60,000 of its customers.

According to Evergy, those intermittent outages will resume today due to regional power supply needs as directed by Southwest Power Pool.

If your power is out for more than an hour, please report it: KS Central Customers call 800-544-4857.

FOX Kansas News reporter Eli Higgins explains in the video posted above.
