Currently, 1,000 hemp and cannabis plants are growing on-site in the Wichita metro to help farmers learn what works and what doesn't here in Kansas. They want to find the answer to the question, how will hemp grow most successfully in Kansas.
Researchers at Haysville’s John C. Pair Horticulture Center are taking notes on the crops, monitoring for diseases, insects, and watching the growing patterns to prepare a report at the end of harvest which will be turned over to the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
