A local jury has awarded millions to the family of a beloved Wichita middle school drama teacher who died in 2015.

$6.5 million was the verdict in the lawsuit against Wesley Medical Center. Lindsay Perez went in for an emergency c-section and gave birth, but died four hours later. The family alleged it was the actions of a nurse failing to notify the doctor of Lindsay's deteriorating health that caused her death from a pulmonary edema.

FOX Kansas News at 9 anchor Carly Willis spoke to the family about how Lindsay's legacy lives on. You can see her report in the video posted above.
