Misinformation tying Coronavirus cases to Wichita circulates on social media

The World Health Organization says it's trying to fight misinformation about the coronavirus, and we're seeing some of that misinformation here in Wichita.

An article has been circulating on social media claiming Wichita has several cases of coronavirus but the State Health Department says there are no confirmed cases of the new coronavirus here. The Director General of the World Health Organization says he's seen the same problem.

The WHO says the current spread of the virus is slow and it could accelerate, and while they're fighting it they don't want to also fight trolls and conspiracy theorists.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo addressed the coronavirus during a meeting of governors this weekend. You can hear his comments from that meeting in the video posted above.
