Parents upset over assignment for students to write Valentine's Day cards to prisoners

Parents in Newton were stunned to learn teachers in one middle school assigned their students to write Valentine's Day cards, not to their friends or family but to prisoners.

The assignment encouraged students to "use your natural voice" and to "limit your signature to first name and town". Those cards were to be sent to the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

FOX Kansas News reporter Greg Miller speaks with parents about their anger and shares the school's response in the video posted above.
