When you dial 9-1-1 for help, their goal is to get you help as quickly as possible. But sometimes, that becomes more of a challenge when there is a language barrier.
Sedgwick County Emergency Communications is trying to address the need for bilingual call takers, and the need is great.
Right now, there are no bilingual call takers or dispatchers in Sedgwick County. When someone calls for help that does not speak english, they rely on a third-party translator's service.
