Spirit Aerosystems seeks voluntary layoffs after 737 Max production halt

When Spirit Aerosystems announced it would stop producing the 737 Max fuselage last month, aviation analysts feared it would lead to layoffs. And now, that fear has come true.

About 12,000 Spirit employees in Wichita received an email from the CEO saying that voluntary layoffs are going to be offered. The fear now is what happens after those offers.
