An afternoon training flight ended in a crash when a Cessna L-19 Bird Dog crashed into the front of a home right after landing at Stearman Field in Benton.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Air Support Unit says the plane landed, but for unknown reasons it veered off of the runway hitting a house and doing some damage to the front end of the plane.

No one was inside the home at the time of the crash. The pilot was not hurt and the instructor had non-life-threatening injuries. The front of the home was boarded up after the plane was removed from the scene.
