WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - Apple announced Monday, they will release new emojis later this year.

"New emoji include Woman with Headscarf, Bearded Person and Breastfeeding, and food items such as Sandwich and Coconut. More animals and mythical creatures like T-Rex, Zebra, Zombie and Elf are a fun way to describe situations and new Star-Struck and Exploding Head smiley faces make any message more fun," Apple said in a statement.

Monday is also "World Emoji Day." Invented by Jeremy Burge in 2014, the creator of Emojipedia, according to the World Emoji Day official site.

The reason July 17 was chosen to be world emoji day is because the iOS calendar icon is fixed on the date.
