Cellphone video shows images of fatal Old Town shooting

WICHITA, Kansas Wichita police have been pleading with the public for a week now to come forward with any cellphone videos or photos of a shooting in Old Town that left one person dead and six others hurt.

Investigators may be one step closer to solving the case after a cellphone video surfaced onto YouTube Friday.

FOX Kansas News learned an anonymous source sent the video to someone and that person uploaded the footage onto a YouTube channel called Dirty Television Wichita.

Fox Kansas News brought the video to the attention of investigators.

Wichita Police Lt. Todd Ojile tells FOX Kansas News they are looking into the video and that this is the first and only video theyve seen so far since asking the public for help in the case.

We know probably theres video out there, said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department. We just need to find it.

Its a crucial piece of evidence that investigators have been waiting for.

The six minutes worth of footage was uploaded to YouTube. It shows a group of men getting ready to fight when someone open fire killing Kolby Hopkins, 25 and injuring six others.

The video starts a couple of minutes before the shooting showing dozens of people walking around on the street in the 100 block of N. Mead as the bars were getting ready to close.

Shortly after theres a gathering and it appears as though a fight is about to break out in the parking lot.

Moments later you can hear someone firing at least 10 rounds of gunfire.

The person behind the camera phone then walks through an alley way over to Rock Island where officers were stationed a block away.

Officers rushed over to help the victims and thats when the video cuts off.

Lt. Ojile tells FOX Kansas News the video shows a lot of information and supports what they already know about the case.

Theyre hoping this will help them find the person responsible for pulling the trigger.

Police have not made any arrests in connection to the crime.
