Woman shoots at home invasion suspect

WICHITA, Kansas - Wichita police say a 28-year-old woman shot at a home invasion suspect in her living room.
It happened just after 11 p.m. Monday in the 2200 block of South Lulu.
The woman says she heard her doorbell ring twice.
She grabbed a gun and went downstairs.
That is when she saw a man in the living room.
She told him to get out.
He apparently reached for his pocket and that is when she pulled her gun and shot him in the right shoulder.
"When she got the gun, she confronted the man that was standing in her living room and exchanged some words with him. She asked him to leave, and in the process of him leaving, she fired a shot at him thinking he was going for a gun," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.
Residents in the neighborhood aren't surprised that the homeowner did what she did.
"She seems pretty tough when I first met them. I realized they're both in the military, and she probably knew how to take care of herself," said Lacey Webb, neighbor.
The man ran out the back door.
He showed up at St. Joseph Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
Police say 19-year-old LeRoy Moore was arrested and questioned.
The woman was home with her 2 and 8-year-old daughters.
