Animals at Alabama Zoo Drowned Due to Flooding

(From WPMI) - The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is closed Wednesday and will likely be closed again Thursday due to flooding. Workers arrived Wednesday morning to knee deep water in much of the park. Many animals had to be moved to higher ground. Unfortunately, several animals drowned due to flooding. Two Patagonian Cavys that lived at the zoo and two baby otters that we're being raised to be released into the wild died. Director Patti Hall says in the 17 years she's been there, they've never lost an animal due to weather. Right now they're working to clear the water and hope to reopen by Friday.
