Authorities seize meth in Barton County

GREAT BEND, Kansas - Authorities in Barton County seized several ounces of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

On Wednesday morning, officers with the Barton County Sheriffs Office executed a series of search warrants in the 1400 block of 20th Street in Great Bend and at the 300 block of Marla Street in rural Barton County.

During the execution of the warrants, approximately nine ounces of methamphetamine was seized along with drug paraphernalia.

The methamphetamine is believed to have the street value of in excess of $20,000.

Sheriffs officers also seized vehicles and other items at the scene.

Three arrests were made in connection with the warrants.

They include two men, ages 29 and 31, and one 21-year-old woman.

Several children were also taken into protective custody and placed with child services.

The investigation is ongoing.

Several more arrests and search warrants are expected.

The sheriffs office was assisted by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Great Bend Police Department.
